This tool produces an elliptical shape cut out using a shank bearing. It is designed to give a decorative profile that is hard to accurately achieve by other methods. By using the shank bearing and a template, the tool can be used to carve into the workpiece, not just following the contours of the timber as with the nose bearing version. This allows interesting carves of varying widths to flow into one another. This cutter can be used in combination with the nose bearing Radian elliptical tool.

Some profiles and shapes just need to be cut right once, ideally without needing to be sanded after machining. Radiantools four flute bits really excel here.

Four micrograin carbide precision ground blades.
Extremely long cutter life. Our cutters will go up to twice as far as a similar double flute pro cutters but are not double the price.
Professional quality materials and workmanship throughout
Great on hard timbers and end grain which can be difficult to finish

Four flute TCT Elliptical Carve Router bit.

Professional router bit. Ellipse is good shape so you can do different types of carves. I've used it to carve a guitar top then rounded over the top of the cut to make a dome. As usual a very well made tool.
